We are proud to announce the addition of John Maurice and Joy Hornkohl as Managers in our Asset Management & Property Tax Practice.

John joins Diversified Property Solutions from BDO Seidman, LLP where he was a Senior Manager in charge of BDO's national property tax practice. Prior to his 8 years at BDO, John was a real property appraiser with Oakland County's Equalization Division.

John's experience in the public sector as a consultant as well as his governmental appraisal experience offers clients a diverse range of skills in all aspects of real and personal property tax and asset management services. John's experience includes multi-state personal property compliance, real property assessment review, appeal and negotiation, identification of abatement & exemption opportunities, Sarbanes-Oxley support and asset reclassification.

John received his BS in Mathematics from Grand Valley State University and holds a CMI designation from the Institute for Professionals in Taxation (IPT) as well as a Level III assessor's certification with the State of Michigan.

Joy joins Diversified Property Solutions from BDO Seidman where she was a Manager in the property tax practice. During her 9 years at BDO, Joy also assisted in providing non-property tax related services which allowed her to obtain valuable knowledge of business management, tax and accounting practices beneficial to providing comprehensive property tax assistance to her clients. Prior to joining BDO, Joy gained extensive personal property tax experience as an auditor with Oakland County Equalization for 9 years.

Joy has utilized her experience as a tax consultant and auditor to bring successful tax strategies to her clients. She has worked with numerous types of businesses and her experience covers all aspects of personal property tax management including compliance, consulting, assessment appeals and audit defense.

Joy earned her Bachelor of Accountancy from Walsh College of Accountancy and Business Administration in Troy, Michigan. She has also obtained a Level III assessor's certification from the State of Michigan and is designated a CMI in property tax from the Institute for Professionals in Taxation (IPT).
